Když se před deseti lety se přecházelo z analogového na digitální televizní vysílání DVB-T, přineslo to divákům mnoho nových televizních programů. Většinu stanic vytvořily tři největší televizní skupiny. Česká televize přinesla divákům postupně až 4 nové programy na třech pozicích.
Nova vytvořila dvě placené sportovní stanice a pět volných TV programů. Prima ji v počtu volně dostupných televizí dokonce předstihla a pod svoji značkou nabízí divákům až 7 programů.
Reklamní trh ovšem není nafukovací a tak je otázkou, kolik dalších neplacených programů ještě český trh unese. Zástupci Novy s Primou se v individuálních rozhovorech a na konferencích shodují v tom, že jakékoliv další programy by už měly být placené.
V podstatě to znamená, že programová nabídka na anténě se už nebude výrazně měnit. Mohly by ji obohatit zahraniční televizní společnosti. I pro ně je však mnohem důležitější zpoplatněné vysílání. Volně dostupné vysílání se bude týkat pouze vybraných programů pro méně náročné diváky, kterým nevadí nižší obrazová kvalita a spousta reklamy.
